samenvatting: Activists working on behalf of any social movement utilize multiple discourses to communicate with other activists as well as movement outsiders. This research studies the discourses and frames present in contemporary bisexual activism using data from a variety of sources. The findings reveal that activists are continuing to use frames that respond to some discourses that have been present in the movement for a long time, whereas other frames are constructed to address discourses that have emerged more recently. Based on the old and new discourses found within and without the movement itself, bisexual activists are redefining frames about bisexuality to encourage coalition and inclusivity. Understanding the relationship between movement frames and discourses, as well as how they relate to discourses present in larger society and other movements, has implications for the political efficacy and success of the movement. samenvatting: This guest editorial is dedicated to introducing the First European Bisexual Research Conference, its theme, and, most importantly, the contributions to this special issue. I briefly discuss the specific context of this conference to explain its European focus, embeddedness in Dutch bisexual activism, and its standing on shoulders of giants (in particular the UK Bi(Re)Con). Secondly, I introduce the theme of the conference, (inter)national research frontiers, which reveals our conviction that contact zones are key to further advancing bisexual theorizing and connecting these studies with broader disciplinary and, sometimes, interdisciplinary theories of the social sciences. Thirdly, I provide a short picture or impression of the conference itself to show the diversity in contributions and research frontiers. Finally, and most importantly, I discuss relevant research frontiers to contextualize and introduce the contributions of this special issue.

samenvatting: Der nachstehende Aufsatz ist im Rahmen eines Mikroprojekts entstand, das durch die Landesstelle für Gleichbehandlung und gegen Diskriminierung (LADS) bei der Senatsverwaltung für Justiz, Vielfalt und Antidiskriminierung Berlin gefördert wurde. Im Mittelpunkt der zeitgeschichtlichen Studie steht die Frage nach der bedeutung der Selbst- und Körpererfahrung in den frühen Beliner Bisexuellenbewegung. Die Wahl des Themas beruht auf einem besonderen Umstand: Im besitz der Magnus-Hirschfeld-Gesellschaft befindet sich seit 2019 der Nachlass der Sexarbeiters und Aktivisten Stefan Hülsmann aus Frankfurt am Main. Hülsmann war auch für einige Jahre bei den Treffen des Bisexuellen Netzwerks e. V. (BiNe) aktiv, wo er Workshops zur "Binären Trantrik" und ein "Sexlabor" anbot. Seine Unterlagen und Aufzeichnungen zu den Treffen und sienen eigenen Workshops zeichnen ein eindrückliches Bild von den vielfältigen Angeboten zur Selbst- und Körpererfahrung im Rahmen dieser Begegnungen. Damit war unser Interesse an der Thematik geweckt, und wir entschlossen uns, der Frage nachzugehen, welche Bedeutung Selbst- und Körpererfahrung in der Bisexuellenbewegung insgesamt hatten. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf den Entwicklungen in Berlin, denn Berlin was das Zentrum der frühen Bisexuellenbewegung.
